We are honoured to be hosting four of the world's leading Sharia scholars - Dr Bakar, Dr Mohamad Akram Laldin, Sh Yusuf Delorenzo and Sh Dr Elgari - who will get together in one room for a detailed and in-depth panel discussion, chaired by Rahail Ali from Hogan Lovells, on issues including Sharia product innovations, regulation and Islamic finance industry development, including alignment with the ethical finance movement.

The afternoon sessions will continue the debate with a focus by leading experts - including moderator Moinuddin Malim, CEO at Mashreq Al Islami - on retail and wholesale product development. Issues featured include, on the retail side, the adoption of a Sharia compliance industry certification and the cost effectiveness of Sharia-compliant mortgages; and on the wholesale side, investment products and development of the sukuk market, the creation of an Islamic money market, Islamic asset management and Islamic derivatives.
