Hi Everyone,
I've been living in Dubai for the past fourteen years and have had two cars financed via Dubai Islamic Bank. I must say this experience was made quite good on both occassions by one of their fantastic and helpful customer service agent who I happen to know about through a friend.
At the time I bought my first car, I was quite persistent in getting an Islamic loan and this was in 2001 which Islamic Banking was not that popular in the UAE. Dubai Islamic Bank had always looked good so I happened to ask a friend to help me meet someone who could make it easy for me to get the loan. It may be at times that the bank requires a person banking with them to refer you and this was certainly the case. Once I got in touch with the gentleman at Dubai Islamic Bank, I was taken good care of and they got everything arranged very quickly. I had my first car in a matter of days and recall paying a 15% down payment at the time since it seems the Islamic way of banking encourages this, however I'm not really sure why. Overall I was happy to put down the payment and enjoyed their service.
When I bought my second car with them in 2006, I was surprised to see that the gentleman who helped me in securing the first loan had now been promoted and was the head of Dubai Islamic Bank's Main Branch's car loan section. I can say he wouldn't recall me but I did mention to him that he was very kind to me and had helped me at a time when most banks would ask for a lot of documentation.
This time around he simply had a glance at my papers and approved the load, assigned a junior assistant to me and said that we could get the car. This was an excellent experience and one that I've told many people I know.
Lastly, I must say that as a Muslim it's my belief to follow the Islamic way of life and hence in doing so grab every opportunity to deal in business Islamically and according to the priciples laid down by God Almighty and His last prophet.
